Repatriating cash and accessing the FX markets has always been a challenge in countries that are subject to capital and currency controls, but these challenges have been exacerbated over the past two years, A number of sovereign ratings have been downgraded, debt levels have soared, FX reserves diminished and currencies devalued. New sanctions on Russia have added another layer of complexity. As a result, doing business cross-border, and mobilising cash has become more challenging. This session explores some of the challenges associated with cash ‘trapped’ in regulated markets and the lack of FX liquidity, and how treasurers are overcoming these difficulties; for example through bespoke digital solutions. Join us to find out how in-depth knowledge of local regulations combined with innovative technology can help multinational companies optimise visibility and mobility of ‘trapped’ cash, whilst adapting their strategies to each market.
Impacts of strong dollar and hard currency shortages on treasury in Africa
The surge in the US dollar is being felt keenly throughout EMEA, with the greenback rising 5.5% in value in Q3 and strengthening against all currencies. Whilst the euro has some resilience to stem depreciation through monetary interventions, central banks in emerging economies and complex countries across Africa are at the sharp end of weakening local currencies. This currency crunch, coupled with ongoing hard currency shortages due to dollar outflows, dwindling foreign reserves and rising inflation in Africa, are creating a challenging environment for treasurers managing in-country liquidity risks. In this webinar, treasurers in the region discuss their local currency cash management strategies and the measures they are taking to hedge and mitigate ongoing currency risks.

Unilever wanted to elevate its global cash forecasting process to make more cash available for investments in the business including a drive for sustainability projects. In order to view and project cash for over 600 global entities, spread across multiple teams and coming from six major data sources, Unilever was looking to focus on integration, a depth of analysis and workflow.
Discover how Unilever connected their data, standardized their many disparate processes, obtained quality data for their cash forecast and provided up to the minute analysis on behavior and trends within their cash operations. As a next step and currently being run in a pilot version, the real-time banking APIs will enable Unilever to optimise both their short term (intra-day) cash allocation as well as their longer-term cash and FX decisions.
Global enterprises and CFOs struggle with payments complexity. Internal and external structures are heterogeneous and a bridging platform to “plug & play” is missing.
In this webinar, Palle Dedenroth, Assistant Treasurer at Danfoss, accompanied by Erol Bozak CPO and Founder at TIS will give their insights on some of the challenges faced by Danfoss in their payments and cashflow functions and how they have set out on a path towards synchronized processes, systems and data using Enterprise Payment Optimization.
Today’s treasury and financial professionals require real-time, cross-functional visibility into their cash, payments, and overall financial positioning to improve financial decision-making and support the growth and stability of their organizations. Facing increasing levels of inter-departmental and technological fragmentation, corporates are streamlining systems, data, and workflows in their search for enhanced collaboration, visibility and speed.
In this webinar we will explain the importance and benefits of a Connected Treasury to help achieve this, including how to streamline security and control, maximize bank connectivity and optimise liquidity management and utilization.
ESG (environmental, social and governance) standards have fast risen up corporate agendas as investors, consumers and regulators increasingly demand action on climate change through emissions reduction, stronger efforts towards social development goals and greater transparency in governance.
In this session we discuss the implementation of ESG measures in treasury, and look beyond funding to incentivising positive sustainability impacts in areas including supply chains, commodities, derivatives, and investments, to create a holistic view of ESG for treasurers.
With base rates at near zero (0.1 BoE, 0.0 ECB, 0.7 Fed), and the prospect of negative rates in the EU, MoneyMarket funds (MMF), are likely to produce lower yields in the near term. Yet MMFs remain a strong pool of liquidity and a core cash management facility for corporate treasurers, from a short term investment perspective.
In this period as we progress hopefully beyond the shocks of the pandemic, we assess the outlook for MMF in post-Brexit UK and Europe, with a comparative glance to the US, and how the yield environment might evolve around central bank actions into 2022.
Investing in the crypto asset market – a guide for treasurers.
Investing cash in cryptoassets is a relatively new practice that seeks greater return on investment in a world of negative bank rates. Although there is a perception that cryptoassets are “risky” from a traditional investment perspective, putting cryptoassets to “work” in various ways can provide a source of low risk and low rate working capital as well as diversification in cash investment portfolio strategy. In this webinar, we assess the role that digital assets can play in cash and liquidity management, and hear from treasurers who have adopted and benefited from crypto management solutions.
Diamonds are a treasurer’s best friend, and it’s the combination of the different facets that make it shine.
Clarity has become a precious commodity in a world of increasing uncertainty. Treasurers know that achieving visibility in forecasting requires not only powerful market intelligence but also robust systems to deliver accurate real-time data. End-to-end solutions are becoming the diamond standard to achieve this. But what are the key facets that let treasury sparkle? In this webinar, treasury professionals discuss four key drivers for the future for treasury. Real-time payments and requests-to-pay, security measures, “cloudification” of processes, and a full cash visibility overview will be at the centre of the discussion.
There is not a corporation on the planet that hasn’t had to make adjustments due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now that the short-term work is done, most treasury departments are turning to 2021 to see how they shore themselves up for the new world order. What challenges are here to stay and to which objectives do treasury departments need to circle back to after a year on the proverbial back burner?
In this webinar, Bloomberg treasury specialist Alison Fletcher will review the most common concerns that she has heard from corporate treasurers over the past eight months and how corporates have adjusted. Corporate treasurers from Medtronic and Diversified Gas & Oil will join Alison to discuss their point of view and ultimately, dive into the future state of the corporate treasury.
Asia looks set to recover from the global Covid-19 crisis faster than the rest of the world, just as it did in 2009, when China’s growth hit 9% overtaking Japan to become the second biggest economy in the world. Yet this prediction might be derailed by ongoing global demand shocks, massive outflows from emerging market funds, falls in FDI flows into the region and weakening currencies. Either way, it’s going to be an extremely challenging environment for treasury in the APAC region in 2020. In this webinar we explore the challenges for companies in both recovery and contraction scenarios
To say supply chains have been disrupted by the coronavirus crisis is an understatement. Across the globe, factory production has slowed or stopped. Borders have closed. Credit for SMEs has all but dried up and government loans are supporting payrolls. Supply chain financing is no magic bullet to the economic shocks caused by this crisis, but it might prove essential in injecting liquidity into creaking markets. In this webinar, we discuss how SCF can be applied for maximum positive impact through the crisis.
Central banks have fired bazookas at the pandemic. From the slashing of interest rates to record lows to rebooting the primary credit dealer facility at the Federal Reserve, and the launch of the ECB’s $750 billion pandemic emergency purchase programme, short of QE, the monetary shelling could not be heavier. In this webinar, we seek to make sense of the impacts of central bank actions on treasury and seek to understand how policy will play out as we move into both recovery and recessionary scenarios.
Demand shocks caused by the global pandemic has created cataclysmic disruption to company cash forecasts. Projected revenues have been thrown into the air and cash management is operating in a risk on environment as potential recession looms. The urgent work of remodelling projections in multiple economic scenarios is keeping treasurers awake at night, as uncertainty closes in. In this webinar, we hear how treasurers are coping through the cash forecasting crisis, and discover solutions and workarounds to make sense of the market chaos.
Critically, access to short term funding and working capital to maintain working capital liquidity in volatile and unpredictable markets is now paramount for many treasurers. The bond markets have seen record issuance for high grade corporates and many companies are drawing on loan facilities. In this webinar, we explore the short term corporate funding options for companies seeking to access working capital, as treasurers seek to navigate market disruption.
