José Manuel Barroso is the Former President of the European Commission and the Former Prime Minister of Portugal.

In 1999, Barroso was elected president of the Portugese Social Democratic Party and became the leader of the opposition. In 2002, he was elected Prime Minister of Portugal and in 2004 he was nominated as President of the European Commission. Barroso remained in the Presidency for two five-year terms where he played an influential role in the passing of the Treaty of Lisbon, responding to the financial crisis and incorporating new members in the European Union, as the EU went from 15 to 28 countries between 2004 and 2014.

On behalf of the EU, José Manuel Barroso received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 and gave the acceptance speech together with the President of the European Council.

Since 2016 he is Non-Executive Chairman of Goldman Sachs International and Advisor to Goldman Sachs and since 2021 José Manuel Barroso is Chair of the Board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Gavi is a public–private global health partnership with the goal of increasing access to immunization in poor countries, supporting the immunization of almost half the world’s children.

Barroso’s academic positions included visiting professor at Georgetown University. Most recently, he was visiting professor of International Economic Policy and a policy fellow at the Woodrow Wilson School, at Princeton University.

Kirsty leads the EMEA & APAC Treasury Operations for General Mills, Inc. (GMI), a global manufacturer and marketer of branded consumer foods sold through retail stores which portfolio includes Cheerios, Betty Crocker & Häagen-Dazs. A Fortune 500 company, GMI is headquartered in Minneapolis, USA and is listed on the NYSE.

Kirsty is based in Nyon, Switzerland. Prior to this role, she worked on Foreign Exchange Hedging topics at EATON, in Switzerland and in India.

Veronica Iommi was appointed Secretary General of the Institutional Money Market Funds Association (IMMFA) in August 2019.

Veronica joined IMMFA from BNY Mellon where she was European Bank General Counsel and EMEA Head of Public Policy at BNY Mellon. In these roles, Veronica was responsible for coordinating BNY Mellon’s Continental Legal heads and leading regulatory advocacy engagement across Europe Middle East and Africa.

Prior to that, Veronica was at LCH.Clearnet SA in Paris where she was General Counsel and member of the Executive Committee and for many years at Credit Suisse, where she performed several roles, including Head of Legal and Compliance for their French and Monaco operations, EMEA Legislative Developments Counsel and Head of the Structured Products Group.

She also spent five years at Goldman Sachs as a lawyer in their Investment Banking Division and commenced her career at Clifford Chance where she qualified as a solicitor into their International Capital Markets Department.

Veronica has legal and regulatory expertise in investment banking, asset management, private banking, custody and clearing house activities.

Veronica has worked and lived across Europe and speaks several European languages, including French, Spanish and Italian. She is on the Roll of Solicitors for England and Wales and for the Republic of Ireland.

Stefan Windisch is currently the Global Head of InHouse Bank at F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. in Basel, Switzerland. Roche, a family-owned multinational corporation, is one of the world’s largest biotech companies with a presence in over 150 countries.
Before assuming his current role, Stefan spent over a decade as a Senior Cash Manager in Treasury Operations at Roche. Prior to joining Roche, he gained valuable experience as a Financial Controller at an FMCG company and a leasing firm in the UK and Germany.

Séverine assumed the role of Head of Aliaxis Treasury in June 2021. Since then, she has embarked on a profound transformation journey to establish a robust Treasury organization that supports the company’s growth ambitions. Her initiatives include assembling a strong global team, redesigning Treasury governance, redefining the banking landscape across the group’s 40 countries, implementing a global liquidity structure, and driving digitalization to reach her targeted technology ecosystem.Prior to joining Aliaxis, Séverine accumulated extensive experience during her 7-year tenure at GMAC and 15 years at Honeywell. Her expertise spans liability management, treasury digitization, cash management, investments, EU regulatory compliance, lobbying, and M&A activities. She is a frequent speaker at international conferences, a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), and has received numerous prestigious international awards. However, her greatest source of pride remains her two sons.

Carol is an energetic, multilingual leader with proven experience as a regional treasurer, finance director, internal and external auditor and financial controller who has worked in several countries and across four sectors. She joined Haleon plc as a manager and business partner in 2022 and has taken on significant responsibilities in international treasury, managing banking, funding, and foreign exchange in 39 markets.

Her leadership extends to implementing global working capital strategy and initiatives such as supply chain finance, factoring, and bank guarantee facilities.

Before joining Haleon, she held a key role as a cluster Finance Director and board member at Leggett & Platt in Luxembourg, overseeing finance and treasury for multiple entities across Europe and Asia.

I am a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and an Affiliate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (AffilACT), with over 36 years’ experience in Treasury, 22 of which I have been as an Assistant Treasurer at Ferguson, a NYSE listed company. I have extensive knowledge and skills in treasury technology, automation, foreign exchange, cash management, and international payments. I am responsible for the UK intercompany loans portfolio and continue to drive forward the group’s strategy on treasury technology. I have worked at Sky, Gillette, PolyGram, Seagram, and Vivendi Universal.

Winny Li is currently the Group Treasurer at PPD, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific having graduated from the University of Cambridge with an MPhil Distinction in Management Studies. She started her finance career with professional accountancy firms, including Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, where she completed her ACA training. This provided valuable experience, leading Winny to working for the Global Media Enterprise, Viacom, where she travelled extensively, accumulating further expertise whilst working in different business environments and cultural settings. 18/19 years ago, Winny joined the fast-growing pharmaceuticals company PPD, where she contributed to the significant growth and change of the company, including Merger & Acquisition, de-listing, number of rounds of re Financing, IPO and many key milestones. With the passion in Treasury, Winny took on further professional training with ACT almost 15 years ago and helped PPD set up its current Treasury function. PPD is now a leading global contract research organization providing comprehensive, integrated drug development, laboratory and life cycle management services. In a past interview, Winny was described as ‘having a willingness to up sticks and move to where the action is, plus a strong commitment to the treasury discipline, Winny Li’s career has all the hallmarks of the exemplary 21st-century treasurer.’

Franca Aeby has been working at Roche since 2014 where she first joined the Treasury back office department and has since then held various roles of increasing responsibility within Treasury as well as international assignments in Finance business partnering. Since 2017 she is working in Treasury Operations as a Senior Cash Manager, overseeing Middle East & Africa and is responsible for the Group’s short term liquidity planning. Franca Aeby holds a master degree (MSc) in business and economics from the University of Basel, Switzerland.

Mack Makode is Vice President and Treasurer for Under Armour. Mr. Makode was appointed to his current position in April 2018. As Treasurer, Mr. Makode is responsible for capital markets, FX and interest rate risk management, working capital optimization, cash forecasting and treasury operations.

Prior to joining Under Armour, Mr. Makode worked at Mylan for almost 3 years as Vice President and Asst. Treasurer, and General Electric (GE) for almost 10 years, holding progressive leadership positions including Treasurer of two GE Businesses (combined assets ~$70B) with promotion to Asst. Treasurer of GE’s largest operating units (Industrial businesses) with $250+B assets in >130 countries. In these roles, Mr. Makode was responsible for FX, interest rate and commodity hedging strategies and hedge accounting, liquidity analysis and management, traditional and alternate funding, cash flow and working capital management, M&A evaluation and integration, and cash and bank account management.

Mr. Makode received his Ph. D. in Structural Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and MBA in Finance and Marketing from The Wharton Business School. Mr. Makode was a professional badminton player early in his career.

Mr. Makode lives in Clarkesville, MD with his wife and has two sons.

Connie Miner is SVP, Global Head of Treasury at News Corp, where she manages all aspects of the Treasury function across the company. She started at News Corp in April of 2020 as VP, Assistant Treasurer.

Prior to joining News Corporation, Connie was Assistant Treasurer at Capri Holdings Limited (“CHL”) and was with the company for almost six years. During this time, Connie assisted in securing financing to fund the acquisitions of Jimmy Choo and Versace and was responsible for global treasury operations.

Previous to joining CHL, Connie worked on the Corporate Treasury team at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company and started her career at Greif, Inc., both in the Global headquarters in Ohio and the South American headquarters in Brazil.

Connie is a Certified Treasury Professional, holds a Global MBA from the University of North Florida and a consortium of European universities, and graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.S. in Finance and minor in International Business.

Yankit Gupta joined Booking.com in 2013 and is currently Senior Treasury Manager – Financial Services & Banking in the Global Treasury team based in The Netherlands. He has played several roles in Banking and Treasury reflecting the evolution of the company over the last 9 years, with a strong focus in partnering with product / commercial teams to identify Treasury enablement (e.g. pay-in/ pay-out method solution, funds flow design, safeguarding methodologies, etc.) across the globe. Jyoti has over 25 years of expertise in corporate treasury management, treasury transformation, finance and strategic decision making. Jyoti recently led a multi-year treasury transformation program at Anglo American across both developed and emerging markets covering all aspects of treasury from technology and process transformation to governance, organisation structure and cultural change. Prior to Anglo American, Jyoti consulted and held several senior level positions for global multi corporates across a variety of sectors including financial institutions, mining & metals, publishing, retail and FMCG. Jyoti is an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. She is passionate about coaching and mentoring, is actively involved in the community as a trustee and chair of the risk and audit committee for a multi school academy and volunteers for the samaritans.

Bob has more than 30 years of corporate treasury experience in the roles of treasurer, credit director, finance manager and controller at BP America and Amoco Corporation. He has successfully managed post-acquisition integrations, technology upgrades and corporate restructurings. Currently, Bob is a partner with the Treasury Alliance Group, leveraging his corporate experience in client engagements dealing with global treasury, risk and crisis management; cash management and cash flow forecasting; working capital management; shared service operations and general management. He also shares his experiences by tutoring others in courses such as international cash and treasury management, corporate risk management and cash flow forecasting, as well as by chairing, moderating and speaking at treasury conferences worldwide.

Peter G. Quarré RT is partner at CashMeasury, a consultancy specializing in Treasury Technology implementations, further rollouts, and optimizations. He brings extensive technical expertise to his work, primarily serving publicly listed and private equity-backed companies. Before founding CashMeasury, Peter was with several major consulting firms on payments & treasury projects for Van Lanschot Bankiers, ING Bank, SABIC, AkzoNobel and Liberty Global. He held senior roles at Avery Dennison and Endemol Shine Group, a media company backed by a private equity firm. Peter holds a masters degree in business administration and he is also a certified Registered Treasurer.

Simon has over 30 years experience in finance, treasury and transaction banking across both developed and emerging markets. Simon was previously Chief Customer Officer at ClearBank and led the client management, product & marketing teams at the UK’s first cloud based infrastructure clearing bank. Prior to joining ClearBank in 2019, Simon spent over 20 years at J.P. Morgan. During his time at the bank, he was responsible for treasury solutions in EMEA, supporting global clients. He was also Head of Corporate & NBFI sales in EMEA from 2012 to 2015. Prior to this he was Asia Regional Executive for Treasury Services from 2006-2010, based in Hong Kong. He also spent 10 years with the bank in Singapore. Simon is now a senior advisor for McKinsey & Co and is also actively involved in UK & EU FinTech as a Mentor for the TechStars Accelerator programmes. He is a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (FCT) in the UK.

Daniel L. Blumen, CTP is a founding partner of Treasury Alliance Group where he leads consulting engagements dealing with working capital management, systems integration, liquidity and risk management and other global treasury issues. Prior to co-founding Treasury Alliance in 2002, he was Managing Director of Knowledge Management Applications, a firm he founded in 1998. Dan was with Bank of America in Chicago and Singapore, where he managed the ASEAN region of the Global Payment Services Group. He also worked for Citibank in Chicago and in London where he had pan-European management responsibility for cash management business development. He has worked with large multinationals and emerging international companies and shares his experience as an author and as a frequent speaker at cash management gatherings worldwide.
