Dr. Morsy is the Deputy Executive Secretary and Chief Economist of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Prior to that, she served as Director of Macroeconomic Policy, Forecasting and Research Department at the African Development Bank(AfDB). Before joining the AfDB, she was the Associate Director and Regional Lead Economist for Southern and Eastern Mediterranean at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Prior to that, she worked at the International Monetary Fund between 2003 and 2012 in various capacities across different departments including, Fiscal Affairs, Middle East and Central Asia, European, and Monetary and Capital Markets as well as Advisor to Executive Director. Previously, she worked as an Economic Advisor at KPMG Consulting implementing public finance reform project in Egypt.

Dr Morsy is an associate editor of the World Development Journal and previously served as a Member of the Economic Policy Panel for Aberdeen, a Board of Trustee Member at the London Middle East Institute.

Her research interests and publications include youth unemployment and inequality, impact of structural reforms on growth and productivity, exchange rate and competitiveness, financial crisis contagion, sudden capital stops, inflation, and fiscal vulnerability and debt.

She holds a PhD in Economics from the George Washington University, USA, a Masters in Economics from University of California, USA and a Bachelor in Economics and Computer Science from the American University in Cairo, Egypt.

Jyoti recently led a multi-year treasury transformation program at Anglo American across both developed and emerging markets covering all aspects of treasury from technology and process transformation to governance, organisation structure and cultural change. Prior to Anglo American, Jyoti consulted and held several senior level positions for global multi corporates across a variety of sectors including financial institutions, mining & metals, publishing, retail and FMCG. Jyoti is an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. She is passionate about coaching and mentoring, is actively involved in the community as a trustee and chair of the risk and audit committee for a multi school academy and volunteers for the samaritans.

Fergal Browne has worked for Kerry Group, the international leader in Taste & Nutrition headquartered in Ireland, for 20 years. Over that time he has occupied a number of roles both inside and outside of Finance, including Director of Global Master Data Management. For the past 6 years he has held the position of Global Cash & Liquidity Manager, managing all Operational Banking relationships for the Group, both domestic and international. Following recent acquisitions by Kerry in Sub Saharan Africa, he has had extensive involvement in setting up their new banking structure in the region.

Razia has over two decades of experience covering emerging and frontier markets. She is a well-known commentator on Africa and the Middle East and provides regular updates to central banks, finance ministries, institutional investors and corporates in the region. Razia currently serves as a trustee of Save the Children UK.She previously served on South Africa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council (2022-24) and as a trustee of the Royal Africa Society (2012-24). She received the African Banker Icon Award 2024 for her contribution to macroeconomic research, and was named one of the ‘100 most influential Africans’ by New African magazine (2015). Razia holds BSc and MSc (Econ) degrees from the London School of Economics.

David has been the Africa Economist at Citi since July 2007. Prior to this he worked at the Economist Intelligence Unit for a total of eight years as Senior Economist for Africa and the Director of the Middle East and North Africa team. Before joining the Economist Intelligence Unit, he worked for six years as the Principal Research Officer at the Bank of Botswana, the country’s central bank. He also worked for three years for the Economic Research Unit of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has a first degree in economics from the University of Bath and a PhD from the University of London that examined the impact of Tanzania’s structural adjustment programmes from the mid-1980s to the early 1990sDuring his working career, David has built up has a wide-ranging knowledge of financial and foreign exchange markets in Africa and the problems of maximising the benefits of natural resources in African countries.

Patrick Lekasi is the Executive Principal & Cluster Head, East Africa, Transaction Banking Corporate Sales, Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), for Standard Chartered Bank (SC) since Aug 2020. In his role, he is responsible for leading a team of sales managers for Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda for originating and solutioning efforts on complex cash management, Trade finance (open account and documentary trade) and working capital in the East Africa cluster. He is also a member of the Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Country Leadership Team.

Before taking on his current role, Patrick was the Head of Transaction Banking Sales for Commercial Banking at SC. He also worked as the Transaction Banking Sales manager for corporate clients in Kenya specializing in solutioning for clients both complex Cash and Trade solutions.

Before joining Standard Chartered in March 2015, Patrick was Senior Relationship Manager at NCBA Bank (erstwhile NIC Bank) and Stanbic Bank for corporate clients. He has had experience cutting across different industries such as Agriculture, Manufacturing, FMCG, IT, Telcos, Commodity Trading among others.

Prior to becoming a banker, Patrick started his career as an accountant in a busy corporate environment at Coca Cola Bottling Company, Nairobi and running a micro-finance institution in Kenya.

Patrick holds an MBA from USIU, Nairobi and Frankfurt School of Finance besides having attended various Leadership programs and training. He also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Maseno University, having specialized in Economics and History.

Marion Reuter joined Standard Chartered in January 2013 and currently holds the position of Head of Transaction Banking UK & Europe & Head of Transaction Banking Corporate Sales UK & Europe. He has held Corporate Banking and Transaction Banking roles at Standard Chartered and J.P. Morgan over the last 18 years.

Mahsa Kanaris has been a Global Cash Sales Manager at Standard Chartered Bank with 17 years of experience in cash management. Previous to this role, she has worked within other International banks such as JPMorgan, Barclays and Citi.

Europe, Middle East and Africa. In this sector role, Steve is focused on supporting clients operating across these industry sectors delivering industry related content and thought leadership. Prior to this role Steve was the Global Cross Border Sales Head, based in London, where he managed a global team covering more than 90 countries responsible for designing and delivering cross currency solutions across all industry sectors including; Public Sector, Corporates and Financial Institutions. Steve has more than 35 years’ experience in the Global Cash Management business, with more than 25 of these spent at Citi. Steve has held a number of other positions throughout his career including, Corporate Cash Management Sales, Relationship Management and Cash Operations. During his career Steve also spent several years with Deutsche Bank based in Paris and London, and with Nat West Bank in the UK.

Pavel Knecht is Director, Head of Corporate Sales for Network & Inbound Business, Citi’s Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) in the Middle East andAfrica and is based out of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this role, Pavel is engaged with Citi’s Corporate Multinational Clients and is responsible for driving end-to- end TTS Sales Management activities across Middle East and Africa.• Pavel joined Citi in 2009 and held various positions in transaction services, relationship and risk management based in Czechia, UK, Russia & USand most recently, he served as the TTS Corporate and Public Sector Sales Head for Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan as well as interimhead for Israel.• Pavel holds master’s degree from Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University in Czechia and also studied MBA at ChongqingUniverisity in China and BA at University of Victoria in Canada.

Simon has over 30 years of experience in finance, treasury and transaction banking across both developed and emerging markets. Simon was previously Chief Customer Officer at ClearBank and lead the client management, product & marketing teams at the UK’s first cloud based infrastructure clearing bank.

Prior to joining ClearBank in 2019, Simon spent over 20 years at JPMorgan. During his time at the bank, he was responsible for treasury solutions in EMEA, supporting clients around the world. He was also Head of Corporate Sales in EMEA from 2012 to 2015 and Asia Regional Executive for Treasury Services from 2006 to 2010, based in Hong Kong.

Simon is actively involved in UK FinTech as a Mentor for TechStars Accelerator programme.
