EuroFinance’s flagship International Treasury Management event returns as a virtual week for 2021
EuroFinance’s flagship International treasury management event will be fully online one more time for 2021 due to ongoing uncertainty and global travel restrictions.
Here, Asif Chaudhury, managing director of EuroFinance discusses the upcoming plans.
Why virtual again?
The international event is known for its global scale both in terms of the speakers and topics discussed, and the attendance. We have decided it would not be possible to deliver a truly global in-person event given the uncertainty that still exists due to the pandemic. It was a tough decision and we are disappointed to not meet in person for another year, but after speaking with event partners we are sure it is the right choice.
On a more positive note, we hope to build on the success of last year’s virtual week, which surpassed all expectations with a record 4100 registered attendees from 95 countries. We now have 12 months of virtual events under our belt and the technology has improved, so we’re aiming to deliver a really bold and innovative experience in September.
Planning is well underway and we will announce further details in the coming weeks.
When will the conference take place?
We will once again hold the event over a full week from September 27th to October 1st. There will be scheduled presentations, panel discussions and case studies across all days as well as dedicated time set aside for vendor meetings and peer-to-peer networking. Attendees can also expect some innovative new formats and activities to break up the day.
Who will I hear from and what will be covered?
We have always attracted speakers who are at the forefront of innovation. Last year, we welcomed companies such as Alibaba, Microsoft, Shell, HP, Rio Tinto, eBay and Schlumberger and this year’s programme will once again feature insights from senior treasurers across all industries.
What networking opportunities will there be?
One of the biggest benefits of virtual events is the potential for networking on a global scale. Attendees can tune in at any time from anywhere in the world, which opens up the opportunities to meet new people.
What are your top tips to make the most of the virtual event experience?
The platform opens 2 weeks before the start date and there are a few things you can do to prepare ahead of time:
- complete your profile so your peers can see who you are and what you do
- take some time to build your agenda for the week by selecting your “must-see” sessions and scheduling meetings in advance
- at the event, get involved; introduce yourself, ask questions, or share an insight in the event chat. As well as contributing to the main conversation, you can use the private messaging tool to initiate one-on-one chats and schedule follow-up meetings
Post-event, you can still access all the features for 2 months after October 1st, so there is plenty of opportunity to follow up with new connections.
I understand this is the 30th year, are there any surprises?
Yes, we are delighted to be celebrating 30 years of this key industry event. The corporate treasury landscape has changed so much in that period from starting with manual ledgers, to the advent of cryptocurrency. We are delighted to have stood the test of time and evolved to meet the needs of its attendees.
