EuroFinance’s conference on International Cash, Treasury and Risk for Finance Professionals in Asia was held in Singapore on 12–14 May 2010.
Over 470 senior treasury professionals attended the 3 day conference which was sponsored by HSBC, J.P. Morgan, RBS, Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered.
They heard from the leading Asian businesses such as Shell Treasury Centre East Ltd, Phillips China Co. Ltd, Lenovo and Asia Now.
Expert speakers included Dr Jeevan Perera, Risk Manager at NASA, who spoke about the rigorously-tested new approach to risk management that was implemented following the 2003 Colombia space shuttle disaster. Clifford Bennett, once voted the world’s most accurate currency forecaster by Bloomberg, discussed the outlook for the US dollar and its impact on Asian economies.
There were case studies on the measured deregulation of China, avoiding FX pitfalls, choosing your banks in Asia and protecting the business from fluctuating commodities. And no fewer than six conference sessions used our EuroFinance trademark 'electronic voting' to get a precise picture of Asian treasurers’ opinions and experiences.
The conference was chaired by David Blair, VP Treasury, Huawei.
